Animal welfare is not an issue at Murrellen Pork - it is an essential element of producing a high quality product. While the issue is normally viewed in terms of cruelty, we monitor welfare in its most subtle form, stress.

Using technology such as tilt-meters, thermometers and PH-meters, the Murrellen Pork supply chain is continuously monitored to identify any changes that may impart an element of stress on the living animal. When a change is found, its cause is identified in consultation with the supply chain partners and quality improvements introduced to ensure this stressor is eliminated.

The old adage that "a happy pig produces good pork" now has scientific validation and Murrellen Pork is at the forefront of understanding and eliminating this subtle animal welfare factor.
